Tasting Notes

Gush Etzion Lonely Tree Sauvignon Blanc is composed of 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The color is the wine is light straw and it is light to medium bodied. The wine has a long, cold fermentation in tanks which gives the wine a very fruity aroma and on the palate one can enjoy flavors that resemble lychees, and grapefruit.

This wine pairs well with a summer salad, white fish or to be enjoyed on its own in the Spring or Summer months

About Gush Etzion Winery

Gush Etzion Winery, located in the Jerusalem Hills, was established in 1998 by Shraga and Tamar Rosenberg.  Shraga was a manager of an elderly home before he and his wife decided to start Gush Etzion winery based off of the fermentation of blackberries in his backyard.

Gush Etzion produces about 50,000 bottles annually and has a partnership with Tishbi Estate Winery.  For a small winery, they produce a large variety of grapes and sell them to other wineries.  The variesties they produce are: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Viognier, Gewürztraminer, and Johannesburg Riesling. The four series that Gush Etzion winery produces are Emek Bracha, Alon HaBoded (Lonely Oak), Gush Etzion and Nachal HaPirim.
Some of the grapes are grown organically and are used by Bashan Winery, Yarden, and Or Haganuz.  The Gush is one of the best areas to grow difficult grapes like Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer because of the dry climate, limestone soil, high elevation and cool evenings.

A visit to the winery includes a delicious kosher dairy meal and a grand tasting of their wines. The Gush Etzion is a must visit in the Jerusalem Hills region.
