The Plato is a special wine that should be enjoyed with delectable food and good company. The Plato 2009 is comprised of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Shiraz which was oaked in only French barrels. This wine is extremely aromatic and opens up with each passing minute. The eggplant and garnet color are deep and powerful. On the nose there are flavors of black fruits such as cherries, blackberries and plums as well as hints of dark chocolate, cigar box and mocha. The finish is long and it can be felt throughout your whole mouth. During the drinking of the wine, one can taste the rich soil, pepper spice, and finish of chocolate. This wine is still young and the tannins are still tight but if opened for at least an hour, the tannins will soften. This wine is already showing its elegance and will be at its prime in at least five years. This is a wine to store and enjoy for a special occasion.

About Adir Winery
Adir Winery and Dairy was founded by the Ashkanazi and Rosenberg families in 2003. The Rosenberg family originated from Poland and immigrated to Israel in the late 1940s. The Ashkanazi family originated from Turkey and immigrated to Israel in the early 1950s. Both families moved to the Northern Galilee and established Moshav Kerem Ben Zimra. They knew they had to build and sustain a community so both families were a part of developing the agriculture and livestock in the region. In the 1980s the Rosenberg family planted vineyards on the slopes of the Galilee hills. During the same time, the Ashkanazi family was producing cheese and milk from goats in the area. Both families built up their reputation and product so that they were known as some of the best farmers to work with in the developing wine and food industry in Israel. In 2003, the two families combined their efforts and founded ADIR Winery and Dairy. Adir in Hebrew means GRAND or HUGE. Adir is also a combination of their last names Ashkanazi and Rosenberg. The dairy facility and winery facility are in close proximity to the moshav and the new, classy visitor’s center.
The region of Kerem Ben Zimra produces some of the highest quality of grapes in the land of Israel. Because of the fantastic combination of terrior – volcanic, limestone and red soil, sloping hills, cold winters, moderate summers, and certain wind patterns – this region is sought out by winemakers across Israel.The winemaker is Avi Rosenberg, graduated as a Cellar Master from Tel Hai Academic College. His brother, Yossi Rosenberg is the CEO of the Winery and the families can be seen in the Visitors Center on a daily basis.
Adir Winery produces two series, Kerem Ben Zimra, which is a single varietal and oaked in mostly French oak for a year. The higher-end series is the Plato, which is usually a blend of Cabernet and Shiraz from a vineyard that is shaped like a plate. This series is oaked for approximately 20 months in all French oak. Avi has plots of vineyards containing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz and Chardonnay. They still set some of their grapes to other wineries in Israel. Adir Winery produces 70,000 bottles and is growing every year. It is one of the most talked about wineries in Israel and is winning highly-respected International awards.
